To send you correct T&G cedar board lengths ...

• Measure walls #1-5 (or estimate if NOT yet built) and
• Indicate your Ceiling Joist Direction in Step #4 > Walls

RE: Ceiling Joist Direction

IF your sauna is SQUARE (W=L), then your ceiling panel board can only be one length, but if your room is a RECTANGLE then it's IMPORTANT to know your ceiling joist direction. OR if you don't like your curent ceiling direction, you can change it in Step 4 > Walls > Joist Direction

RE: Drywall and Windows

• DRYWALL — IF you already have drywall up, there's NO NEED to REMOVE it. IF your walls are insulated, venting is available and you can run wiring, you're good. If not, there's some planning to do
• WINDOWS — Add them below in Step 4 > Windows

Sauna Benching

Our sauna benches are made of 100% Western Red Cedar with NO VISIBLE fasteners

This 6x7′ Sauna Material Package includes 4 sauna benches with NO KNOTS

• Benches are fixed OR optionally slide out of the way
• Our standard bench WIDTH is 18″
• Standard bench HEIGHT is 20″ (LOW) and 40″ (HIGH)
• Facing (or skirting) and back rests are optional
• Our 4 bench plans include one 22″ wide HIGH bench

All sauna bench features can be adjusted in Step 4

NOTE: We NEVER cut sauna benches to custom lengths — This should ALWAYS be done on site, as your measurements may change slightly. They're built in foot increments only

8kW Sauna Heater

A 8 kW heater is included with our 6x7′ Modular Sauna Kits / Volume = 266 cu. ft. (with default 6′4″ ceiling height)

• Upgrade your heater or choose NO heater IF you have one
• We add blocking in the walls to hang wall-mounted heaters, extra for HUUM DROP heaters
• Heaters can be rotated (90°) to an adjacent wall, IF 2 ft is available

Some notch their benches to create more room. Benches can also be recessed. We've seen many creative sauna plans over the decades since we started (1971)

NOTE: Wall-mounted heaters are VERY HOT at the top third. The middle is warm and the bottom of the shroud body is actually cool. Our LOW benches seat tops are 18-20″ off the floor, so you can place benches closer to wall-mounted heaters at these heights

Sauna Door Swing

Rail & Stile Door + 16x67″ Glass is included in our 6x7′ sauna

Sauna doors ALWAYS open out as a safety precaution

The door swing shown is our suggestion. It's a bit easier when reaching for the built-in heater controls to prop the door open with your backside

Set your door swing when choosing your door in Step 2

NOTE: Doors come with one handle as they're self-closing. Mount the handle on the outside of the door

Sauna Venting

Vents ensure adequate fresh cool air enters the sauna and some hot air exits

You can move the vents as needed per your site condition. Hot air (that's exiting) should be vented into any adjacent room or an attic, sometimes outside is the only option, but NEVER into a wall cavity. Also, NOT that much heat actually leaves the sauna

Can I vent under the door?

Yes! In smaller sauna rooms (<4x6) it's fine to use a < 1″ gap under the door without a dedicated INTAKE vent

In larger saunas (>4x6), venting ONLY under the door will put a strain on the sauna heater appliance. Heaters are designed for cold air to easily pass through the rocks and over the elements heating the sauna room. It breathes better and so will you!

Vent Size Rule:

• If heater < 9kW, use 4x6″ vents
• If heater ≥ 9kW, use 6x8″ vents

• EXTERNAL CONTROLS — Our generic sauna plans show a heater with built-in controls. If you upgrade your heater, we'll place these controls next to the switch or specify where

Of course, when you actually install these items, do what you want. This is just for our Sauna Plan drawing and so we're both on the same page when discussing your sauna

Add a Changing Room

Changing Rooms can only be added to 4x6′ and larger saunas. The Changing Room wall's smallest dimension will be 4 feet

It's best connect the sauna to the changing room, it works best usually to place your "SAUNA DOOR" on the SHORT Wall

Later, the "DOOR for the CHANGING ROOM" will go:

• On a LONG WALL with a SLOPED ROOF, or
• On the SHORT WALL with a PEAKED ROOF

An ADA-Compliant Sauna Requires

ADA-compliant means your sauna meets the requirements to ensure those needing wheel chair access have the necessary room to maneuver

• A 5x5′ turning radius — Thus a 7x7′ sauna with 2 benches is basically the minimum size available
• A 36″ wide door — We'll build your door choice at 38x72″, 38x76″ or 38x82″ RO. So, choose "Browse other doors", then add a COMMERCIAL-sized door to your shopping cart
• ADA threshold — A ⁵/₈″ max threshold is allowed
• Flooring — Many add Dri-Dek Sauna Rubber Flooring for better maneuvering

RO = Rough Opening T&G = Tongue and Groove. This is the cedar panel cladding covering both sides of the door
