Venting your sauna heater under the door
Yes, this is quite common but ONLY in small sauna rooms. It removes the need for the lower sauna intake vent and sauna vent cover (4×6″). Leave a good gap, about an inch or more under the sauna door. Your sauna heater should be placed next to the sauna door for good air intake. Just to be clear, your sauna still requires a sliding door for the upper exit vent. Your sauna heater appliance will breath better and so will you. Otherwise, it can start to feel stuffy.
In large rooms, it’s best to have a dedicated intake vent and always an exit vent. Sauna rooms about 6×9×7 and larger require larger vents (6×8″). We offer larger sliders or doors for vents and grills.
