Western red cedar bench is ideal for outdoor and all wet applications These are constructed using a super select grade of cedar which does allow for occasional dime size tight knots.
This indoor / outdoor cedar bench is easy to assemble. The bench top and leg assemblies are pre-built. We use 11/2″ thick western red cedar throughout the seat and faced with 5/4x4″. Legs are pre-drilled.
Leave them untreated and enjoy the pleasant cedar aroma, or you can apply on outdoor stain/sealer product of your choice. We recommend Sunfrog wood sealer. See below for steam room application. When left in the weather they develop a natural gray patina. Some assembly required. Complete assembly instructions included.
Steamroom application:
These benches work great in the steam room however they need to be sealed with multiple coats of Polyurethane. Without the clear coating of Polyurethane the benches will always be wet and bleed tannins onto the tile work which will stain the grout. We recommend that customers seal all the surfaces of the pre-built bench tops legs and cross pieces first, then assemble the benches and seal two to three more times for best results. The several coats of clear Polyurethane makes the benches easy to clean and improves hygiene in shower or steam room conditions.
