In this photo two sheets of metal are added to protect the sauna wall with spacers in between. Also shown is the cut out for the sauna stove pipe exit.

Note BOTH sheets are of metal do NOT touch the sauna wall. Ventilation behind the sheet metal insures heat does not build up and scorch the wood. Wood that starts to char dark brown or charcoal is a definite sign your fire protection is NOT correctly installed.

Please take all due precautions when installing a wood burning sauna heater at less than the manufacturer’s recommended safe distances.
