Essential Sauna Wood Oil Application Instructions
This aromatic, penetrating oil treatment is non-toxic and smells good (cedar forest rain essential oil). When used on a new sauna, it will protect the wood and insure against the discoloration caused by sweat and water. It contains tea tree oil, which has antimicrobial properties that help eliminate the toxins expelled from the body during sauna bathing. The product will preserve and enhance the full, rich color of the wood in your sauna.
Uses and Benefits
- Designed to protect against the discoloration of the wood used in most sauna units.
- Often used to cover over sand bblend in water stains from heavy use or stains from water leaks
- Covers over 700 to 1000 sq. ft. per gallon
- FDA-approved food grade petroleum oil base, which when applied correctly does not absorb into cloth
- The sauna environment bakes the wood and dries out the natural oils, this product is designed to replace them
Application
- Can be applied with a brush or a soft cloth. The wood needs to be dry, clean and slightly warm (100°F.)
- After applying the oil, heat your sauna 160°F to 180°F for about 1 to 2 hours
- Allow to cool prior to reheating for use.
- Install a thin coat that should absoarb quickly
Notes
- Application rates will vary with texture, porosity and method of application. If the sauna is old and has never been treated, two treatments may be necessary.
- Over lapping during application will NOT cause lap lines
- Applications can be made as often as every 2 weeks or as little as 2 to 3 times per year.
- High traffic commercial saunas will benefit from use 2x/month. Personal saunas may only require occasional treatments.
