All sauna heater manufactures specify a passive venting system composed of an intake vent below the sauna heater and an exit vent located up near the top of the room but not on the ceiling!

Ideally, these vents receive air from and release air to an adjoining air space — preferably not the outdoors (only because cold air can enter through an exit vent). This venting system provides cool air to the sauna heater so that the thermostat sensor does not prematurely overheat and shut down.

NOTE: When framing your sauna, the actual vent opening needs to built into the walls first using blocking material. The blocking in the wall DEFINES the VENT opening.
